Katherine (Napiwotzki) Neeb: Kids Choir and Solo Singing in Exeter

I hold a Bachelor of Music in Voice Performance from Western University and a Master of Music in Voice Performance and Vocal Pedagogy from the University of Toronto. As a child, I grew up singing in Stratford Kiwanis Music Festival and loved performing in musicals at school. I enjoy exploring music in different languages, including the Norwegian music of Edvard Grieg and gave the World Premiere of Andriasov’s Russian Romances at the Toronto Andriasov Music Festival. Solo performances include Haydn’s Creation, Bach Cantata 133 and Vivaldi’s Magnificat with KW’s Spiritus Ensemble, and a solo recital at the Bach Music Festival of Canada.

My love of teaching began with my studies at the University of Toronto, where I was eager to pursue a degree specifically in Vocal Pedagogy. As a teacher, I enjoy helping my students discover their own unique voice and seeing the confidence that comes from strengthening their own instrument. My students have been accepted into music programs at post-secondary institutions, performed in local musicals, competitions and choirs, prepared for RCM examinations, and studied for the pure joy of making music.

Currently, I am researching a curriculum for young children and have witnessed the many benefits of starting singing lessons at a young age. It is empowering to realize the power and potential of one’s own voice, and I am honoured to be a part of that process with my students.

In 2023, I began conducting Kids Choir in Exeter, a children’s choir for ages 7-12 which focuses on building vocal and musical skills in a fun and nurturing environment. We perform at the South Huron Community Choir’s annual December and Spring concerts, and it is a huge confidence boost for the kids to stand up on stage for an enthusiastic audience and create beautiful and lively music together with their friends. I truly believe that singing is a learned behaviour. Everyone can and should learn to sing.

I sang with The Elora Singers for 4 years, including their summer festivals and 2017 Maritime Tour and currently sing with the Arcady ensemble, directed by Ronald Beckett. I am passionate about my work with my private studio and Kids Choir.
